Reza Sedaghat   n 1985 he joined Esso Libya (Sirte Oil), and was responsible for an exploration program as a senior staff geologist in the western Libyan offshore from 1985 – 1992 that resulted in the drilling of six exploration wells with a 50% success rate. He was then appointed Chief Exploration Geologist with responsibility for a major regional evaluation of the Sirte Basin which included prospect generation in the prolific Concession 6 of the Zelten Platform.
In 1997 Reza took up a position as a senior geological adviser for the Middle East with Saga Petroleum in Oslo . He was then transferred to Tehran as Exploration Manager in 1999 and was responsible for the award of the highly prospective Abadan Plains Study Area contract followed by the award of the Anaran Exploration Block. Norsk Hydro, on buying out Saga Petroleum in 2000, appointed him as Anaran Block Project Manager. In 2003 he was appointed to the position of Chief Adviser for Iran and the Middle East .
He is affiliated with both the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain.

Reza Sedaghat is a Geology graduate of Queens University , Belfast (B.Sc.1968) and Imperial College where he obtained his M.Sc in Petroleum Geology in 1969 and a Ph.D. in carbonate sedimentology in 1982.
He commenced his career with IOEPC / OSCO in 1970 as an exploration geologist involved mainly in sub – surface / well site geology, acreage appraisal and prospect generation of the Jurassic / lower - middle Cretaceous in East Khuzestan / Persian Gulf . In 1980 he joined British Gas in London and took a position as team leader responsible for all exploration activity in the western and southern offshore areas of the UK and Eire leading to successful applications for acreage in the English Channel and Celtic Sea .
